McDonald’s

Menus and prices products in differents countries

In the world, menus and prices in McDonald’s are differents. We are going to see  the differents prices and products, countries specality and wages and prices.

  1. Differents prices

Diapo 3 : This table represents the prices of a big mac in euro and dollar depending on the country.
In (pays) it costs (prix $) so (prix €)
The most expensive big mac price is in Switzerland and the cheapest is in Venezuela. This is due to the cost of raw materials, rent and labor.

Diapo 4 :  The Big Mac is one of the leading products of globalization. The burger is found all over the planet and its production is relatively similar. Studying its price is therefore a quick way of comparing the local purchasing power of the different countries.

This is the Big Bac Index. It is based on the theory of purchasing-power parity. Comparing the average price of a big mac between two countries can know which money is under- or over-valued.
For example, in January 2017 in America, the average price of a big mac was $ 5.06, in china it was only $ 2.83. So the raw index of the big mac says that the yuan was under valued.

So if a burger is "cheap" in a country, it means that the currency of this country is not at its proper level.

However, this index should not be overemphasized because the price of the Big Mac also includes the raw materials needed to make it, the cost of labor and employees, which can vary considerably from one country to the other. Then the Big Mac can be considered a cheap snack in some countries and a luxury product in others. We can just say tourists are going to find a Big Mac cheaper than at home if they go to South Africa.

[The relationship between prices and GDP (= in French PIB) per person may be a better guide to the current fair value of a currency (=monney). ]

  1. Differents products

Diapo 5 :

Diapo 6 : India McDonald’s don’t have cow meat, because cows are sacred. McDonald's in India do not serve beef products, in deference to Hindu beliefs. Meat and vegetarian meals are prepared in separate areas of the restaurant due to religious laws; cooks preparing vegetarian dishes wear a distinctive green apron.

Moreover, its population is only vegetarian. Indeed, the Indians consider the bovids as sacred. For Hindus who account for 80% of the population and the Skihs 2% it is forbidden to eat beef. As for the Muslims, 13% of the population, the second religious community of the country, they do not eat pork. So McDonald's menus are made most from fish like shrimp or chicken.

Korean McDonald’s begins serving Dog Meat Burgers

McDonald’s says : “Consuming dog meat is a long tradition, spanning over thousands of years. Just because we don’t understand it, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. We will continue to support the Korean traditions.”

Diapo 7 :
