EXPRESSION ORALE ANGLAIS-MALLORCA

Hello, I am a travel consultant and my goal is to convince tourists that Mallorca is an island that must be visited and remove the prejudices that people have.

First, you have to know that Mallorca is one of the Balearic Islands. The Balearic Islands compose an archipelago of 5 islands, three of which are known by a lot of people: Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca. They are one of the autonomous communities of Spain.

Before, when we were talking about Ibiza and Mallorca I had the image of an island invaded by clubbers, mass tourism and large hotels, where the song of birds is masked by electro music. In fact, I had the image that everyone has of these two islands: the island of partygoers and all the excesses. But that was before ... before discovering what really lies behind prejudices ...

Today, I would like to make you want to visit Mallorca, to take away the image that television gives us from this island.

At first, what I recommend you to do is to rent a car on site that you will pick up once you arrive at the airport because Mallorca should not be only visited for its capital but especially for all its small villages in the land and its beautiful landscapes.

PALMA DE MALLORCA First of all let's talk about the famous capital Palma. At the beginning I was anxious because I didn't know what to expect, TV broadcasts had given me a rather negative point of view on this city. Yet in just a few minutes, I fell in love with the pretty streets, the traditional facades, the cathedral, the craft shops. I really fell in love with this city of a thousand colours, simple atmosphere, full of sun and music.

CAP FORMENTOR Then, at the extreme north of the island, Cape Formentor offers a decor worthy of the "Lord of the Rings"! A winding road of 18 km leaves the port of Pollença and advances in the middle of mountains plunging into the sea. To tell the truth, we wanted to stop every 100 meters to observe this beautiful landscape and take pictures! Several panoramic observation points follow one another but do not forget to go to the last from where you can admire the lighthouse of Cape Formentor, nestled on a cliff overlooking the sea!

SA CALOBRA For those who are not afraid to be on the road, Sa Calobra is a destination for you! The road to access the city snakes along the cliffs. The turns are tight, and you must have a good heart! The creek of Sa Calobra is pretty but especially the Torrent de Pareis which is a long canyon.

SERRA DE TRAMUNTANA Then go to Serra de Tramuntana, a mountain range classified as World Heritage by Unesco. Urbanization is less present to give way to a succession of olive trees, orange trees, vineyards and picturesque villages. Here we discover another Mallorca.

VALLDEMOSSA Valldemossa is a small village and is one of my favorites in Mallorca. Situated in the middle of the mountain of Sera de Tramuntana, thanks to its original architecture, Valldemossa is one of the most visited villages of the island. It was made famous thanks to Chopin and George Sand who often came to relax here. The peaceful and quiet atmosphere of this village is very appreciable. Enjoy it for lunch there.

BANYALBUFAR Banyalbufar is one of the most beautiful villages on the coast. The hills are entirely covered with terraced crops that flow into the Mediterranean.
