INTRODUCTION ; CONCLUSION

When the Gods granted king Midas one wish, he wished that everything he touched would turn to gold.

Midas was delighted. Trees, rocks, buildings all gold.

But soon, he found in horror that his food turned into gold as well.

When he hugged his daughter to soothe his pain, he realized his mistake too late.

The richest man in existence was starving, heartbroken and alone.

Humanity got a similar wish granted when we learned how to produce plastic.

Cheap, sterile and convenient it changed our lives.

But this wonder of technology got a little out of hand.

Plastic has saturated our environment.

It has invaded the animals we eat and now it’s finding its way into our bodies.

So what do we do with plastic waste ? Well 12% is burned, 9% is recycled and 79% are other. This part is mainly plastic who’s sticking around still or who ends up in the ocean : indeed around 8 million tons per year ends up in the ocean.

One should note that in the past 10 years, humans produced more plastic than during the entire 20 century. And as we know, plastic is hard to decompose : as we can see on the picture it take 20 years for a plastic bag and up to 500 years for a plastic toothbrush. It seem obvious that we need to change our habits to make our world a better place.

But luckily, a solution might be considered

As a conclusion, we can found strange the idea that fungus could change the world around us but we need to find solutions to make our world better.

That’s why this project is so important for so many people, they are trying to make a difference and make the world better at theirs levels.

Avis :

Form my point of view and according to a lot of people, plastic is a major issue and it’s starting to get out of control.

So it is important to consider alternatives, I don’t think that fungus can cover up the use of plastic because people are used to how convenient plastic is but still it could be a great revolution.

Currently, companies are trying to make a difference as well as most of us by recycling.

I truly believe that it can make a difference so this is what I’m trying to do on my own.
