Abortion

Abortion is the intentional termination of a pregnancy. Today, abortion is a big

controversial issue for women in our society. Indeed everyone doesn’t agree about the beginning of

life. In general american government is divided into two part. On one hand the Democrats or

pro-choice, they consider that women should have the right to have an abortion. On the other hand

the Republicans or pro-life, they argue that abortion is murder. Since Roe v. Wade, in 1973,

abortion is legal in every states even if some states are against it.

My thesis is that abortion is a women’s choice. My presentation will fall into three parts.

First abortion is a women’s right, then women must be free to make decision about their own

bodies and finally abortion is a safe medical procedure.

The US Constitution as determined by the Supreme Court says that abortion is a women’s

right. The 22nd January 1973 the landmark Roe v. Wade stipulate that the access to abortion will

not be criminalized by state laws. Even if it’s legal, there are restriction in certain states to make

abortion more difficult to obtain. For example, in Wisconsin women have to wait 24 hours after

being counseled by a provider before having the procedure. Another example, in some states, the

medical provider has to use special wording that the state determines. While it’s a women choice,

there are certain restrictions that make it harder to obtain.

Women should all have the freedom of the decision over their own bodies. They should be

able to decide whether they want to have this child or rather not. In a case of a rape or incest or

even an unwanted pregnancy, theirs choices for their future shouldn’t be determined by

government. Indeed, making abortion illegal would not stop it. Statistics show that the number of

abortions decreases, for example in 1980 the number of abortions reported to the CDC in selected

areas was 1,297,606 and in 2014 it was 652,639. So you can see the longer abortion is legal, the

less abortions their are.

Abortion has always been practiced but it’s safer in our days than during the past decades.

The fact that this procedure is legal permites a safe medical procedure. Women are supported by

professionals who keep them in good health. They avoid maternal injury and death caused by

unsafe and illegal abortions. Moreover, the fetus doesn’t feel the pain according to several analysis.

In conclusion my thesis
