“ Why has The Fault In Our Stars been so hugely popular among teenagers? “

The novel, The Fault In Our Stars, written by John Green has been hugely popular among teenagers thanks to the love story between Hazel Lancaster, a young girl who suffer from Thyroid cancer, and Augustus Waters, a former basketball player who lost his right leg to osteosarcoma. And also thanks to the relation between two teenagers who are different and grew up with the idea to face death each day.

The love story between this two teenagers began when Hazel and Augustus meet each other at a cancer kid Support Group. They will not take them long to become friends and talk to each other about everything. Hazel shares her favorite book, An Imperial Affliction, with Augustus, and they are obsess by the book that ended in the mid sentence. Augustus search the email of the author and when Hazel emails him, he invites her to come to Amsterdam to talk about the ending of the book. Hazel’s dream come true thanks to Augustus’ wish. They go to Amsterdam and have a romantic times, but when they meet Peter Van Houten they realize that he's an alcoholic and he doesn't answer of Hazel's questions. When he dies, Hazel is shocked and really sad. At the end, she learns from Lidewij that Augustus wrote her a letter that he sent to Van Houten. The book ends with her reading the letter, which he hopes that she's happy with the choices she made and then Hazel says that yes, she is happy. So, this love story is testimony to the popular among teenagers because, some can identify themself to Hazel or Augustus. And little by little the reader creates some kind of relationship between him and the protagonists because the fact that Hazel narrate all her life leading to reveal us her feeling for Augustus, how she feel with her parents, how she feel simply. So it must moved the reader and feels more closer to Hazel as anyone (maybe except Augustus) And the fact that they are both of us two cancer kid, the reader will be forced to have question about childrens who have cancer and will a question about how difficult they life could be.

Indeed, Augustus thought that his cancer was gone forever and because of him he question himself about how life is precious and how he doesn’t want to feel oblivion. Maybe, the writer wanted that teenagers will recognize them to the protagonist because in this novel the friendship or the love can change a life but not a person, so maybe that, will moved the reader and will feel alive. Hazel and Augustus have different life between teenagers who don’t have cancer. They live with the thought that they will die soon and normally they want to live them life to the bitter end. But Hazel don’t have this thought and she want to feel oblivion while Augustus don’t. So this book it’s for everyone, every teenagers because this book talk about cancer kid and every teenagers can identify themself to the situation even though they don’t have cancer or they have.

To conclude, The Fault In Our Stars has been so hugely popular among teenagers because of the protagonist, of the overtone of the writer and the love story who touched and moved the readers.
