I’m going talk about « spaces and exchanges ». First of all I would like to give a definition of this notion .This notion deals with the geographical and symbolic areas that all societies occupy and the interactions between men and different societies. Our world is built on the exploration and conquest of new spaces. The different cultural, economic, sociological and language interactions have shaped and characterised our modern-day world. In order to illustrate this notion I have chosen to talk about Canada and attempt to answer the question what do borders mean to first peoples in Canada? Firstly we will talk about advantages and drawbacks of Canada and secondly we will look at the situation of the Inuit in Canada.

First of all, Canada is the second largest country in the world; in fact Canada’s motto “from sea to sea” refers to the immensity of its territory as a country extends from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. Canada is a great place to leave abroad for English and France people since there is a lack of language barrier, therefore integration is easier. It’s a peaceful country which is relatively neutral. The healthcare system and education system are of high standard compared to other countries. The Canadian dollars remains strong it’s a strengthening currency. Besides the north of the country is sparsely populated whereas the south is highly populated because of the harsh climate of the northern region of Canada. Most people of Canada leave along the border since this region offer people who live there, a more temperate climate. However in document “extreme”, the text reveal Canadians love winter not only do they love winter but they also celebrate it.

Moreoever, the most easily recognizable categorie of indigenous inhabitant of Canada are “the first nations” and “the inuits”. The culture of inuits is deeply rooted in the vast land they inhabit. To illustrate the situation of the inuit I will present the document “stop stealing our land”.

The problem the inuit are facing in the texte is that the 5 superpowers want to take advantage of artic energy resources. The inuit have been marginalize and they have enough of being treated as if they were second class citizens. The inuits blame the 5S for stealing their land. The 5S don’t recognize the inuits rights consequently they don’t want them to interfere. For the inuits land is not something that belongs to an individual, land must be share and not divided up between countries for economic reasons . The inuit thing the situation is unfair and that they are losing their sovereignity.

To conclude ,I’d like to live in Canada because it would be interesting to go off the beanten tracks and to explore the unspoiled ice field and meet inuit people .
