Animal farm

About the author

George Orwell (1903-1950) was a writter and an English reporter. His work are influence by his commitment and his ideas which come from his personal experiences. His most popular books are Animal Farm which was published in 1945.

About the book

The story takes place on a farm in England in the 20th century. At the beginning, the animals rebel against Mr. Jones, the farmer, and after that, they established their own society. It based on the equality of all animals. The animals don’t want to live like human. It meens that : not sleep in a bed, they can’t smoke, swear close, etc.

In this book, the pigs are the most intelligent charactere than the other animals and so they can control animal. They are like the chief. The pigs try to teach all animals but it’s not a success sot hey use their unknowledge to change the rulls of their society in their avantage.

After the installation of this society, two important pigs in the farm (Snowball and Napoleon) try to climb up the ladder which lead to the power. Napoleon is jalous of Snowbal so they want to suppress him. At this time, we can observed a figth to have the power while they instaure a equality society. In this figth we can repear the cult of the personality and the propaganda to destroy the image of the other pig. This equality society dosen’t exist anymore. All of what they have create disapear and their rebellion doesn’t meen anything because they do the same thing than human do.

For me a society can exist since autority or they always are people who they are going to fight to have the power. This book show it with the exemple of the USSR society. All of this book is based on the Russian revolution in 1918.

The end of the book show the humanizem of the pig. They feel more important than all of the other animal in this farm, they feel better and it’s the total opposite of the equal rull.

The point which most interested me in the book corresponds to the reaction of the characters, those who do not rebel while it makes twice that they find themselves under the influence of the power. They do not still react because they believe in their chief and afterward their reaction will be motivated by the fear. But before that, they would have been able to rebel but they made nothing. They are can be not as well intelligent as pigs but we know all at in fact if we feel free or not.
