This American company of entertainment was created in 1923 under the name of Disney Brothers Studios because the founders were two brothers, Walter Elias Disney and Roy Disney. They quickly produced their first production: the series "Alice Comedies" which was a real success. In 1926, the company is renamed Walt Disney Studios and created a new character who was "Oswald the Lucky rabbit". One year later, the character Mickey Mouse, that everybody know today, was created by Walt Disney Company and little time later, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck, the friends of Mickey, were also invented. Mickey Mouse was exported world-wide and a lot of Mickey's dolls were created. After all these short films and series like Steamboat Willie and Silly Symphonies, the company was entered in the full-length feature films with the creation of "Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs" and its release in 1937. It was an enormous success and the brothers have continued in this way with the production of others movies like "Fantasia", "Pinocchio" and "Bambi" and a lot of by-products. In 1955, the first park Disneyland opened in California with a lot of activities for all ages, adults and children... But in 1966, the company knew a turning point because Walter Disney died of a cancer. His brother decided to continue their work but during 20 years, there hasn't been not much innovations and the company contented itself with continue activities already arranging. In 1984, Michael Eisner is chosen as CEO of the company and internationalized it. In 1986, the company takes the name of Walt Disney Company, which is its name today, and went into golden age linking cinematic and commercial successes with movies like "The Lion King" and "Beauty and the Beast", that have given a diversification to the company on a global scale. In 2005, Robert Iger replaced Michael Eisner and organized the Disney's image in the Medias. He modernized the Disney productions and bought Pixar Studios, and Marvel.
