Bob Marley, a real hero

From growing up in the crime infested streets of Kingston, Jamaica, to being one of the best if not the best reggae singers ever, Bob Marley throughout his life and his singing career, has showed us what it takes to be and be remembered as a hero. Bob Marley was born to his mother, Cedella Marley, and white father Norval Sinclair Marley on February 6, 1945, in St.Ann Jamaica. He grew up  in the crime infested neighborhoods of Jamaica under the care of his Mom, Aunt, and Grandfather. He started piano lessons at the age of 10, which led him into Reggae. Marley believed in the Rastafarian religion, which includes most of the beliefs of the Christian religion. One must possess love and courage  in order to be a hero or be remembered as a hero. Bob Marley throughout his career and his life, possesses love and courage and is remembered as one of the greatest singers' and heroes' in history.

What made his songs successful, besides the quality of the music, is also what Bob Marley tells about. His music touched all audiences and participated in the affirmation and promotion of a Black identity. It remains a symbol of emancipation and freedom. He has become an icon of peaceful protest and self-defense. The messages he delivers are spiritual and cultural, with values from the Rastafarian culture. Bob Marley, hero of a world, spokesperson for the poorest, is known for embodying the rebellious spirit of the most oppressed peoples.

His life and his music are inseparable. The legacy he left behind, beyond his records, is almost mystical to some. He revolutionized the world in his own way and still today many artists are inspired by his values.

An event that demonstrated Bob Marley's courage and values was that of December 3, 1976. He survived a shootout during an outdoor concert. Two days later he participated in the Smile Jamaica concert planned in Kingston, replying to those who are surprised:

«The people who take part in making this world worse never take days off. That's why I can't afford it.»

In 1980, the singer lost consciousness while jogging in Central Park in New York. After examinations, he was found to have five tumors, including three in the brain, one in the stomach and one in the lungs. Cancer is widespread. He prefers not to say anything to his entourage and continues his concerts including that of Saint-Denis in France which brings together nearly 50,000 people. At the end of the same year, Bob Marley received treatment in Bavaria and received treatment that prolonged his life at the cost of hard suffering. He who wanted to end his life in Jamaica is too weak to reach Kingston by plane.

To conclude, Bob Marley is more than a singer, He is a hero. He gave all his love to make a better world. For him, everyone is equal and deserves to live life as they wish.

«The color of the skin of the man does not matter more than that of his eyes, I do not think that the color is a paramount thing, what is important these what the man has in the head and its is reality.» - Bob Marley
