AMELIA EARHART.

Amelia Mary Earhart was an American aviation pioneer and author. She was born the 24 July 1897 in Atchison (Kansas) and she disapear during a flight around the globe in 1937, Earhart dissapered over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island. Fascination with her life, career and disappearance continues to this day. She was married to george p. Putnam an Ameriacn publisher,author and explorers

Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She received the U.S. Distinguished Flying Cross for this record . She set 9 other records . She wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots. In 1935 Earhart became a visiting faculty member at Purdue University as an advisor to aeronautical engineering and a career counselor to women students. She was also a member of the National Woman's Party and an early supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment.

While her aviation achievements are legendary, her commitment to women’s rights is also noteworthy. Throughout her remarkable career she focused on proving that women were equal to men . She is registered in National Women's Hall of Fame. She was decorate the 4 june 1932 of the Legion of Honour .
