The London Aquatics Center

The London Aquatics Center is the most technologically advanced swimming center in the whole world. It was used during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games. The Aquatics center is situated at the north of the Olympic Stadium. There is 48 minutes between London Center and London Aquatics Center, like the distance between Ollioules and Marseille. In the Aquatics center, there are 3 pools: the competition pool, the training pool and the diving pool.

The competition pool was the center of the swimming action during the Olympics. The length of this pool is 50 meters, that's the equivalent of four double decker buses lined up next to each other. In addition it has ten lanes ,which can be changed for beginner swimmers, and is up to three metres deep, making it ideal for confident and experienced swimmers.

The training pool also offers an Olympic quality 50 meters, eight lane pool which will often be split in two, creating a safe and fun swimming environment for swimmers of all levels.This pool hosts a range of family fun sessions including Aqua Splash inflatable sessions as well as swimming lessons and general swimming.

The 25 meters diving pool is configured for competition level diving, but in fact is normally used for coaching and teaching. This diving pool is the most advanced within the UK and the first stop for all aspiring professionals who going to enjoy this wonderful deep pool.

In the whole building of the swimming center, they used almost 600,000 tiles like the number of the population in Washington DC and the three pools contain 10 million litres of water like the population of Paris, and they are lined with 180,000 tiles. For the Sustainable Development, the aluminium roof has 50 percent recycled content.

Now everyone will be able to feel the thrill of swimming under that familiar wave-like roof, and enjoy some of the best community swimming facilities in the country for the same price as local leisure centre swimming pools. And, with a total seating capacity of 2,500, watch out for world class events taking place in future.
