        In this song, the influence of gospel is manifested through the polyphony of the song that leaves the voice of Nina Simone flying over the melody. The tempo is slow, full of great solemnity, and the instruments are discreet before the voices. The message of the refrain is almost chanted by the artist, who directly addresses his audience in the middle of the piece to make sure of his connivance.

        Nina wants to infuse the black American youth with the confidence she lacks. It does not try to raise their anger or their indignation. She simply reminds them of their strength: they are young, pure, talented, and so numerous. The world is waiting for them!

        Nina Simone is an American singer and pianist, born in 1933. She began at the age of 6 to accompany the gospel singers in the Lutheran church frequented by her parents. At 12, she gave her first concert in a church. As a result of this first performance, the young woman who taught her the piano humbly announces to her parents that she has nothing more to teach him: the pupil has surpassed the master. She advises them to send Nina to a boarding school where she will spend 5 years, from 1945 to June 1950, and from which she will be promoted. As a result of this she endeavored to enter a great school. But she is backed up without any explanation. However, Nina is not fooled, she knows full well that she would have been the first Afro-American to integrate the school ...Nina then moved to New York where she joined the Juilliard School of Music. For ten years, from 1954 to 1964, his fame continued to grow. 1964 marked a turning point in her career, when she released a live album, Nina Simone in Concert, where she tackled the issue of civil rights for the first time.
