Topic: Is the law in Singapore too strict?
“low crime does not mean no crime” it is a stating warning in Singapore, in fact this country is know for its low crime rate and its cleanliness. Singapore is a country where law matter a lot and if not respected it is severely punished. So, thanks to two article first one written by Uptin Saiidi written in January 16, 2018 “Singapore crime rate is so low that many shops don’t even lock up” and second one written by Kristen Han “a London DJ’s punishment sheds light on Singapore caning shame” we will present you if the law in Singapore are too strict.
If compared to other country I do think that Singapore law are strict but I don’t think that is a bad think, In fact Singapore is ranked second on the Economist Intelligence Unit's Safe Cities Index for 2017, it is a country were one can be assured about his personal rights are not violated as long that he does not violate the rights of other. It’s a country were u can be sure to not be threatened or even robbed, we can take for example the article from Uptin Saiidi written in January 16, 2018 were people feel free to let there shop open and don’t be scared to be robbed. In my point of view, I would prefer to live in a country where I do not have to impose conditions on myself to be in safety rather than having to be scared about danger that could happen. Singapore is that country where you can live your liberty as long you do not harm the liberty of others.
Law in Singapore are indeed strict as we can see in the article written by Kristen Han in January 15, 2019 the punishment that Ye Ming Yuen will have to endure are painful, however that is to show how Singapore’s zero-tolerance is being effective and this is the reason why there city is clean an safe. In my point of view, I feel like law in Singapore are strict because it is what the country needs for the safety and liberty of people. We can take for example, drugs who are severely punished because it do not only destroys the lives of addicts, but also may endanger innocent people, just because they share the same city.
To conclude we saw that law in Singapore are indeed strict but not “too” strict in fact, people in Singapore can enjoy their liberty and safety thanks the strictness of the country. They can most likely do everything they want as long its do not harm others.
