I am going to talk about the idea of progress. To begin with, i would like to talk about the definition of progress. The idea of progress consists in believing that the world can became better in terms of art, science , technologie and quality of life. To illusrate this notion we are going to talk about the swinging 60s. It was a period based on optimism. This period was caracterised by the equality for woman, by social, sexual, technological revolution, fashion, and music. In that case, we pose this question: how did conflicts change the society in the 60s and help people to get more rights. To answer this question, firstly, we are going to see how the cultural conflicts change the society; futhermore, we will see how the social conflicts help people to get more rights, and finally we will see the technological change.

In this part we will see that in the 60s, the cultural changes took place.

In class we studied  several documents. The first document is in the cover of Time new magazine published in 1966. This cover shows the city of London as the center of many changes in the 60s. This generation represents the new society is going to take over the old one and even to some illegal extends. This cover shows the conflict between the old and the young generation. In the 60s, another conflict took place between the young generation and the governement.  In class we studied "Pirate Radios" . The British governement didn't want British people to listen to rockn'roll. Therefore, a  groupe of people created "Pirate Radios".  However, the government disagreed. They despised them and tried to arrest them. But they couldn't, because it was too huge a movement to be stopped.  Pirate radios broadcast their music and was sunk in the international Waters. The atmosphere on board was exciting. People were thrilled to participate to such a thing. They even become more powerful as it  was illegal and also difficult to fight against the government.

In this second part we are going to see that in the 60s the social changes took place.

In the 60s,  the situation that women were dominated by men was normal for everyone. But since this period women wanted equality between them and men.  In the class we also studied the poster of a film "Made in Dagenham".  In this poster we can see a woman whose name is Rita. She is the leader of a factory. Then, we can see a group people  who seem to be on strike and protesting.

First act a Matrimonial property act. It was the property for married people. In this act women contribute  to equality to the family. Her work is considered as equal to her husbands. The second  act  was the Equal pay Act. For the some job you need to be paid the same salary. In this period women made up a majority university graduads.

In this part we will see that in the 60s the technological change took place.

In the sixties people couldn't afford to use a TV because it was too expensive. It was a great technological revolution. People wanted to have a TV because they could have access to what was going on in the world. Today, it's totally  different : people have access to it but don't use it that much besause of the Internet revolution.

Conclusion: To conclure, we can say that the conflicts of social, cultural and tecnological changes changed the society and helped people to get more rights.
