The idea of progress, for a country, is the idea of that the country can change in a good way, par example developing new technologies, science, or improving the way and quality of life of the society, etc.

We say that India is a country full of contradictions. But why do we say that india is a country full of contradictions? To answer to this question i will talk about the contradictions between hi tech and traditions in india.

On the one hand we can say that india, in the lasts decades, have developed a hi tech industry based on the arrival of big international enterprises on the area of new technologies like cellphones, aerospace industry and hardware and software improvement. The arrival of big enterprises like google are attracting technological gurus from developed countries like the us, france, uk and japan.

This develop of IT s have change the way that we see india. The typical image of the indian society, with their tipical traditions, is less and less real, and that is why hi technologies are opposing to traditions. The arrival of these industry have in a certain way westernized india and his population so it is erasing some traditions in this country, is changing the way of life of indian people making them more frees. Hi technologies are creating new jobs and developing the economy. More and more people are earning more money and improving their lives.

On the other hand some indian traditions opposes to this westernization of india, like the male dominated society. In indian the existence of the dowry, make that indian families prefer to have boys than girls. The dowry is a indian tradition where the bride family have to pay an amount of money to the groom family. This make that boys are more financially attractives than girls. This causes that millions of girls are aborted. Another tradition that oppose to this westernization of india is the caste system. This system prevent people to climb on the social ladder. Indian people think that if a person born in a low caste is because he have done bad things on their past live, we have to remember that their religion believes on reincarnation and karma, so if they have done bad things on their past life they have to pay in their new lives.

To conclude we can say that india is a country full of contradictions because even if india is economically growing and life quality of indian people is improving thanks to hi tech industry and they have left some traditions, they still have traditions that are preventing india of being a developed country like the us or some countries of Europe. Also even if india is the 10th economical world power, the most part of the population still living under the poverty line, earning less than dollar per day.
