Who the person is: Jocelyne Dubé
Job: Volunteer manager (She is in charge of making sure that they have enough volunteer and making sure that there is a rotation since they don’t have a proper formation to work in this type of environment.)
*It is a non-profit organization that provides palliative care for people with final stage cancer*
She started to work there as a secretary but she is now the volunteer manager.
She worked there for 23 years but she had this job position for 17 years.
I met her because my grandmother is working there and I went there to do volunteering.

Questions:
1. Can you describe me what is a typical day at your job and what you are doing exactly? Answer: Since it’s a non-profit organisation, they work a lot with volunteers and donation to finance their project. But since it’s a difficult work environment because people that go there are not staying for a long time, so it’s really difficult emotionally and the regular people who worked there has a proper formation about how to handle it but volunteers are not trained to work in this type of environment. That’s why her job is important because they can come only come once every two weeks ( it depend on the type of job they are doing and how much contact they have with the patients) so her job is to make sure that there is a rotation and that there is enough volunteer so that the house will function well. For example when I went there I was working in the kitchen all day.
2. What do you like the most about your job? Answer: I think it’s working with people that really want to help. They are working with people who give their time to help other and it’s almost always the same person. So it’s nice to work with such amazing and generous people.
3. What do you dislike the most about your job? Answer: Well I think it’s to see people come here and you know that they are going to die within weeks, and you see the family and it’s hard to work in that type of environment but at the same time you are here to help those people so it’s a good thing at the same time to know that you are making a difference in the life of those people.
4. What is the most important quality to work in this position? Answer: I think that if you want to work in that type in environment you have to find the balance between caring and being detached. Because to do a job like that you have to love helping people, be very caring etc. but at the same time you have to know how to keep a certain detachment otherwise it would be too difficult to accomplish this job.
5. What does your schedule look like? Answer: well it’s a pretty normal schedule, I start to work at 8 and I finish at 4
6. What is your greatest professional achievement? Answer: Well at the end of each year, we are doing
